BRINGING THE OCEAN TO YOU, WHEREVER YOU ARE

Howdy! Thanks for stopping by!

I am a science illustrator, artist and marine naturalist from the central coast of California. I love translating what I experience through art and illustration to share with others. Most of my work has taken me to tropical ecosystems, focusing on marine and botanical species, but I get excited about almost everything. Most of the time you can find me either painting old surfboards and skateboards with the tunes blasting, focused in the studio working on detailed scientific illustrations or out in the field gaining inspiration. When I don’t have a paintbrush in hand, I won’t miss a chance to be in the water, out hiking on whatever trails I can find, or cruising on my skateboard.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Anna has a bachelors degree in Conservation & Resource Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master’s Certificate in Science Illustration from Cal State University, Monterey Bay. She has worked as a marine naturalist for organizations including ActionQuest, SeaCamp San Diego, and Wildlife Conservation Society. Her artwork has been shown as locations including the Pacific Grove Natural History Museum, Culture Brewing Encinitas, and Rootstock Collective in Santa Cruz.

ABOUT SALTY EARTH STUDIOS:

Salty Earth Studios is aimed at bringing the ocean alive for everyone. It’s a mix of both land and sea, as they are interconnected and each have so much beauty to share. My role as an artist is translating that beauty through paint and illustration to create informative, meaningful, and beautiful pieces of artwork. Because of Salty Earth’s strong environmental focus, most of my acrylic paintings won’t be found on a new canvas. I like to find the old stuff, the used stuff, the stuff sometimes deemed “trash” and find new meaning for it. And if it still has some ride-able life left in it…all the better. When it comes to clothing and merchandise, we are incredibly focused on supporting ethical production of t-shirts, with environmentally friendly practices, non-pesticide use and creating a piece of clothing with unique artwork that will last in your wardrobe for, dare I say it… forever! So thanks for stopping by, thanks for supporting a small business and thanks for caring for the planet.
